Supporting lives to excel.
Better Life Vietnam
Better Life Vietnam and all of its initiatives work towards the great goal of supporting lives to excel. A non-profit organization founded in 2010, Better Life Vietnam’s mission is to improve the educational conditions for underprivileged children and youth in Vietnam. BLV programs include the BLV Book Library, BLV Scholarship Program, English Classes, & Better Employment Opportunities for Disadvantaged Youth.
Better Employment Opportunities for Disadvantaged Youth
Youth with disabilities make up 15.3% of the Vietnamese population, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Welfare. They are among the most marginalized social group, with 75% of people with disabilities living in rural areas without stable jobs or regular incomes. Those with disabilities also have lower literacy rates and levels of education & training, which often leads to higher levels of unemployment and lower standards of living. To combat these challenges, Better Life Vietnam aims to empower youth with disabilities through vocational training and job search support. Partnership with VDT Training and Hotels provides vocational training for youth with disabilities in the tourism and hospitality industry and later assists them in finding work with our partner travel companies and hotels in Hanoi. The Coeurs de Papier project trains youth with disabilities in the art of quilling, a skill they can use to support themselves. Their quilled artworks are then sold worldwide to provide the artists with a stable job and income.
Formed in 2010 by Ms. Nguyen Minh Thinh of Hanoi, Vietnam and the Walter family of Weiterstadt, Germany, Better Life Vietnam (BLV) was founded on the belief that all those less fortunate have the right to education, healthcare and a decent standard of living. With this belief in mind, Better Life Vietnam has dedicated its efforts to improving the lives of the country’s disadvantaged by fostering opportunities for learning and acquiring new skills. Better Life Vietnam works to provide greater educational and vocational opportunities for underprivileged and disabled youth in Vietnam through on-the-ground programs and social enterprises.
Since its founding, Better Life Vietnam has improved the lives of hundreds of children through programs like the BLV Book Library, BLV Scholarship Program, English Classes, Vocational Training, and Better Employment Opportunities for Disadvantaged Youth.
